ARTIST INFO:
Eliza Malkhaysen is a 22 year old Armenian female photographer and graphic designer, looking at her work I can see that everything in the frame, from the quiet locations to the muted colours, to the lone subjects, demonstrate her take on calm and almost bland raw photography. She photographs numerous pictures of silhouettes giving it a blurred, grey effect throughout the pictures. A lot of her work is inspired behind this idea of obscure and out of focus silhouettes and this caught my attention as I think shadows and hazy silhouettes really capture the idea of tranquility by the calm textures and faint shapes portrayed. The way light and shadow is used with such calm grey colours really represents a serene image and the calmness overall that I am trying to capture for this project. For my first response I captured various shots of an obscure figure against a black background trying to capture a disfiguration of the body in order to show no harsh outlines of the body to not make it stand out but instead create a blurred and hazed like image. I then edited a few of these pictures to further enhance this effect and add some dimension and colours to further explore this idea of blurring silhouettes and movement. |
